Title
Futuristic instrument panel unveiled
Description
Photograph of the instrument panel of the Mercury Antser, an experimental electric automobile.
"A comprehensive electronic map display on the passenger's side is the basis for extremely precise trip monitoring in the Mercury Antser, a lightweight, aerodynamically designed concept car that will be on display in the Lincoln-Mercury exhibit at the Detroit Auto Show, January 12-20 at Detroit's Cobo Hall. The computer-controlled map display can be programmed to give detours and alternate routes around accidents and other traffic problems. As a safety measure, the Antser's highly sophisticated electronic instrument panel continuously displays the computer-calculated average distance required to stop the car, under current operating conditions."--Accompanying sheet.
